We’re proud to announce that our partner, Janet Othero, has been appointed as Chairperson and Convener of the inaugural East Africa Law Society (EALS) Data Protection and Privacy Committee, a recognition of her leadership in data governance across the region.

We are pleased to congratulate our partner, Janet Othero, on her appointment as the Chairperson and Convener of the East Africa Law Society (Official) Data Protection and Privacy Committee.

This is the inaugural committee dedicated to data protection, privacy, and cyber-resilience, comprising leading practitioners from regional law societies across the East African Community.

Janet’s appointment underscores her ongoing contribution to the advancement of robust data governance frameworks in East Africa. Her leadership will support cross-border legal collaboration and strengthen privacy and cyber-readiness within the region's legal ecosystem.

At Cavendrys, we are proud to support such pivotal roles — and to see our expertise in Technology, Telecoms, Data, Fintech, IP & Innovation (TDFI) reflected in high-impact leadership.

We look forward to learning from Janet and the broader committee as they shape the future of data protection in East Africa.

Well done, Janet!
